Success at Bexhill Academy Event
A total of 37 competitors from around East Sussex descended on
Bexhill Academy on 21st March for the first Bexhill Academy Banded
Table Tennis Closed.
The day consisted of both morning and afternoon events with
players divided in bands according to their experience. The format
was designed to lead to some close and exciting matches throughout
and players were not disappointed as this proved to be the case. All
events were played on a purely group basis to ensure maximum play
and experience for all competitors.
As well as attracting entries from Lewes and Eastbourne local
interests were well represented with players coming from throughout
Hastings and Rother. Players consisted of those that had just been
playing for a matter of a couple of months to those with a few years
experience under their belts.
Organiser, Kevin Haffenden was delighted with the response.’ I was
encouraged by the response to this, our first event at Bexhill
Academy. It was great to see some many young people of all abilities
and levels of experience come together for an enjoyable days play.
There was a great atmosphere in the hall.’
There has been a lack of competition for Juniors in East Sussex in
recent years and Table Tennis Rother are keen to address this
situation and establish a series of closed events in the coming year.
